The son’s name is Danilo. he studies in the 5th grade of a local school. Our village is located in a mountainous area, where buses practically do not reach.
Since the beginning of the war in our country, it has become very difficult to survive in the village, there is no work. Before the war, people worked in the field of tourism, and during the war tourism is zero.
We have to walk 3 miles from home to school. since we live on a farm. The school bus does not always reach our village, as it breaks down very often, because it is already old, and in winter it is not available at all.
There is no gas in our village, so we have to heat with firewood, which is very expensive, especially when the war started. It is very difficult to collect firewood, since Danylo’s father is disabled. Our family has many children and is low-income, and Danylo’s younger brother is a disabled child.
In order to somehow survive, we have to work hard in the fields. Our family’s monthly income is $200, which is enough to pay for electricity, take out garbage, and buy firewood for the winter. Relatives and caring people help us with clothes and shoes for children.
Our family collects funds for the expensive treatment and surgery of a disabled child. When the school bus does not reach the village, Danylo is very upset that he could not get to school, because he really wants to study. He dreams of becoming a football player, he loves sports very much, but the school does not have a gym or a sports field in the yard.
In the school, the classrooms in the corridors are heated with firewood and the toilet is very cold, there is no drinking water in the school either, except for a full backpack of books, children have to bring water from home, and warm tea in winter, since there is no school canteen. We believe in victory and hope for the good hearts of people.
